EUROPEAN SOCIAL PROJECTS
CHARITY YOGA CLASSES
Through our project, we aim to create a space where individuals can cultivate inner peace while making a tangible difference.
Our project, the Charity Yoga Class, invites participants to join us at the top of the National Library of Latvia for a unique yoga experience against the stunning backdrop of the Riga skyline. Led by Ersin, our current Rotaract president and a passionate yoga instructor, this Vinyasa yoga session caters to individuals of all levels, fostering a sense of well-being and community.
Education as Empowerment:
We are proud to share the success of our previous initiatives. Through our partnership with Tumaini Foundation and Kilimanjaro Hope NGO, we supported the education of Winifreda, who graduated in April 2024, fulfilling her dream of becoming a science teacher despite financial challenges.
Our commitment to providing educational opportunities for disadvantaged children began with our partnership with Tumaini, a foundation founded by Martina Schwarz and Dr. Rainer Eberlein. Tumaini’s focus on education in the Kilimanjaro region, in collaboration with the Kilimanjaro Hope NGO, aligns closely with our values. One such beneficiary of our support is Winifreda, a remarkable young woman whose determination and resilience inspire us all.
Winifreda’s Story:
Winifreda, the seventh and youngest child in her family, stood out as the sole recipient of secondary education, thanks to financial support from a relative. Her passion for becoming a science teacher led her to enroll in Dodoma’s Education College in central Tanzania. However, adversity struck when her relative lost their job in mid-2022, jeopardizing Winifreda’s dreams of higher education. Through the generosity of our yoga classes’ participants, we rallied around Winifreda, ensuring that she could continue her studies uninterrupted. We are very happy to share that Winifreda successfully graduated on April 18th, 2024, a testament to the life-changing impact of our collective efforts.
Recent Yoga Charity Success – Empowering Through Partnership:
Building on the success of our past endeavors, our recent and upcoming yoga classes are conducted in partnership with the Zuzeum.
The Zuzeum is a modern art center, housed in a meticulously restored cork factory dating back to 1910 presenting the largest private collection of Latvian art in the world. As participants engage in their practice, they are surrounded by the beauty of art and the tranquility of the space, fostering a sense of inner peace and connection. It’s a rare opportunity to blend the physical and the artistic, creating a unique and enriching experience for all who attend.
Together, we direct all proceeds towards SOS Children’s Villages in Latvia, amplifying our impact and extending our reach to children in need of a loving home and nurturing environment. Through this partnership, we aim to support SOS Children’s Villages in their ongoing projects and their noble mission to provide a stable and caring home for every child.
As our project was such a big success, our club has been approached with a heartfelt request. We’ve been asked to extend our support to four-year-old Aleks, who is bravely battling a neurogenic tumor located in the back of his chest.
Unfortunately, treatment for his condition isn’t available in the UK. Thankfully, a clinic in Germany offers the best chance for Aleks’s recovery. Currently, his family is raising funds for his treatment, and we have decided to dedicate one additional yoga class at the Zuzeum to this cause. Together with our participants, we are making a meaningful difference in Aleks’s journey towards healing.
Yoga Charity Classes in Numbers:
We donated 1.800 Euros to support Winifreda’s tuition. We’ve supported 3 wonderful causes, and we are looking forward to many more classes.
