Dear friends, It is our great pleasure to invite you to the 2nd edition of BalkanAct, which will be taking place from 18th to 20th of March in Nis, Serbia. After and amazing 2015 edition held in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, Rotaract clubs from Nis have been honoured to host this year’s conference. BalkanAct began as an idea of bringing together young enthusiasts who share the values of Rotary and are willing to improve both their leadership and teamwork skills in order to contribute to their communities’ development. So far, it has grown into a huge conference with almost a hundred participants coming from all over the Balkans. One of the missions of BalkanAct is also creating (and maintaining!) strong professional networks between Rotaract members in Balkan countries that will give them a chance to make positive changes together through long-term cooperation and mutual support in time to come. Accordingly, the topics of the 2nd edition will cover some of today’s most important social issues, such as conflict and disease prevention, education and literacy, peace promotion, local community economic empowerment. By engaging actively in all of the workshops and discussions, the participants will be able to recognize the necessity for raising awareness about these burning questions, as well as the necessity for promoting better understanding, tolerance and acceptance. Furthermore, they will be given the opportunity to attend lectures concerning the Rotary Foundation Grants so as to learn how to raise funds or find financial resources for their projects. We are firmly convinced that our conference speakers – Rotarians with multiple fields of expertise – will answer all of your questions and potential doubts about these topics.
