Previous Peace Conferences
The Rotaract Peace Conference brings Rotaractors from the Rotaract Europe and Rotaract Mediterranean MDIOs together to build peace project initiatives in countries recovering from inter-ethnic conflict, and to spread the values of tolerance, protection and freedom across the Rotary community.
Holding the conference in Pompeii was a symbolic choice — it is where Rotaract Mediterranean was first established. The city’s resilience and its ability to withstand the test of time mirror the resilience needed in peace-building efforts, while its central Mediterranean location made it accessible to participants from across the region.
Alongside the keynote programme, participants worked through the six critical challenges every peace project must overcome: needs assessment, turning vision into a plan, building alliances, resource mobilisation, ensuring sustainability, and evaluation and lessons learned.

The first Rotaract Peace Conference brought the two MDIOs together in Sarajevo for a full day of sessions and a collaborative social project, closing with a shared dinner. The choice of host city placed the conversation about inter-ethnic reconciliation in a place that has lived it.
