Rotaract Europe

Rotaract Europe, officially known as the European Rotaract Information Centre (ERIC), was founded in 1988 with the first European Convention (EUCO) in Antwerp. Representatives from 14 countries came together to establish a European Committee and lay the foundation for what would become a continent-wide Rotaract network.

Our Story

1988 – Founding of Rotaract Europe

The E.R.I.C. is founded and the first EUCO takes place in Antwerp. Besides, the first European Committee is created with one representative each from Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Turkey.

1993 – Official recognition by Rotary International

E.R.I.C. is officially recognized by Rotary International as an MDIO becoming the first international MDIO in the Rotarian world.

Our Purpose

According to the bylaws, the main purpose of the E.R.I.C. is to “…develop international relationships between clubs and members all over Europe by bringing Rotaractors from all over Europe together”. The objectives of Rotaract Europe are:

  • Exchange knowledge and resources between districts, clubs and members of Rotaract in Europe
  • Foster international friendships and cultural exchange
  • Encourage collaboration on service projects and initiatives with global impact
  • Strengthen the partnership between Rotaract and Rotary International

How We Work

ERIC is a network driven by collaboration and shared responsibility. Each member district appoints a Country Representative (CR), who acts as the link between ERIC and local Rotaract communities. Together, the CRs form the General Assembly, which guides ERIC’s direction.

The Executive Board, elected annually by the CRs, carries out ERIC’s daily activities and coordinates projects. Board members include the President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Marketing Officer, IT Officer, and Social Services Officer.

ERIC’s work is carried out online throughout the year, complemented by three major international meetings:

  • REM Fall (September / October)
  • REM Winter (January)
  • EUCO (May / June)

Looking Forward

ERIC continues to evolve as the dynamic hub of Rotaract in Europe. By connecting people across borders, we empower young leaders to make a lasting impact in their communities and on the world.
