Movember is an annual event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men’s health issues, such as prostate and testicular cancer. Rotaract club Varaždin, Croatia, decided to start a campaign in the city of Varaždin in order to spread the word about men’s health issues. The other main goal is collecting donations for a local association that deals with prostate cancer.

During the campaign, RAC Varaždin has been raising awareness through a variety of presentations, info-flyers, handing out artificial moustaches etc. This has been done among the local school, faculties, pubs and coffee shops, hair salons, as well as Rotary and Rotaract clubs. Citizens were also invited to send photos of their moustache progress or even just photoshoped moustaches.

The last part of the campaign was the final event – big Shaving and Aftershaving party which took place on November 25th in a local pub. In cooperation with some local firms and barber shops, the event included a variety of ways to donate for the cause through free shaving, prizes, fine drinks and good atmosphere. The whole campaign was wrapped up by choosing “The best moustache of Varaždin”. The winner of this competition did not only receive eternal glory but also a special prize.
