The European Board agreed on the introduction of the first Strategic Weekend for Country Representatives. The aim of this working event was to create a program of trainings, team building, panel debates and group discussions and to develop mutual relationships among the Country Representatives as well as to train E.R.I.C. members and discuss E.R.I.C. topics.

The Strategic Weekend took place in Milan, Italy from Sept. 21st to Sept. 23rd. The city is the administrative seat of Lombardy, home region of Rotaract Districts 2041, 2042 and 2050, which bring together 70 Clubs and more than 1,000 members. The three Districts established a H.O.C. composed of more than 20 people and led by the CR of Italy Andrea Mora, in order to offer the participants the best possible experience, a warm welcome at their arrival place, and a quick city tour when possible.

Rotaractors are called to act within the Rotarian family and where young people learn to excel. Therefore, the HOC has chosen to accommodate the workshops in an Academic facility of Milan and in the headquarters of Rotary Districts 2041 and 2042 to underline the connection between our institution and the educational organisations: both are places of inspiration and leaders’ forges.

The first session (Saturday morning) was focused on the Presidential Theme “Be the Inspiration” and on the current key values of the current ERIC year: inspiration, transparency, communication. A presentation on the planned activities and a question time followed. At lunch time Board and CRs were received at Federico Sagramoso’s (DRR 2041) home.

The second part of the day was divided in six sessions concerning ERIC administrative and budget aspects, Social Services, Events, Marketing strategy. A surprise awaited the participants: on the occasion of the Strategic Weekend the D2050 organised a formal dinner in their honour attended by 170 Rotaractors in the countryside of Pavia, not far from Milan.

The last session was focused on feedback, brainstorming and planning. Ideas and topics arisen the day before especially regarding Social Services were discussed, and updates about next events were communicated. A farewell brunch closed the workshop.

The goal of H.O.C. was to offer the participants a fruitful time for programming, teambuilding, networking and debating, and to let the attendees experience the genuine Italian hospitality. In closing, the ball is in goal!
