Before becoming a medical doctor I was (and I still am) a proud Rotaract memeber. I decided to put my skills at the service of Sea Shepherd Conservation Society: an organization that protects the oceans by fighting illegal fishing. I have been assigned the position of on board medical officer in a 4 months mission that takes place every year in Mexico, in the Gulf of California: “Operation Milagro” aimed at stopping illegal fishing and save endangered species living in the protected area of the Sea of Cortez.

One big problem for me: since all the ships and equipment come from donations there is no certainty to find useful drugs and medication on board to work with. After discussing this issue with Samuele Soldo, DRR of my district (D2050) we agreed to contact Ivan Vega, DRR of District 4100 Mexico, area in which I will operate with Sea Shepherd. Our project consists in collecting OTC drugs and gather funds to buy medications directly in Mexico. This idea was accepted with great enthusiasm and both districts have already started working at this project!
