Why this kind of project?
We try to learn and share how people from different nations live, what they eat, how they have fun… Then we decided to contact with different kind of countries and ask them to do a local activity. It was up to them. For example, in the first part of the project, we planned a local food sharing process.
How it started?
During the August, the first part of “Different Nations, Different Cultures” project has been completed in partnership with the International Services Committee and the Vocational Services Committee. Pakistani Tahir Shah who is our guest member, performed the flag exchange on August 3, 2017, representing our club with the Rotaract Club of UET Peshawar in his home country. He gave our club flag and a culture box.
The two clubs became better friends while the communication continues
We prepared a video celebrating the Independence Day of Pakistan on August 15th and sent it to UET Peshawar Rotaract Club. Also on August 17th, we organized a concurrent workplace tour of the club. As Konak Rotaract Club, we organized a workplace trip to the production of Reyhan Pastry, while our Pakistani friends organized a workplace trip to a restaurant named Shinwari Tikka House.
At the end of August, we made a collage of images from the UET Peshawar Club with images they sent us with their best wishes. You can watch the video that will remain as a remembrance of our project from the link at our Facebook page. We would like to thank the Director of the International Services Committee İdil Baykent, Director of the Vocational Services Committee Ceylin Karakum, UET Peshawar Rotaract Club President Qazi Waleed and their members, who have contributed to the realization of this project. We would also like to thank Tahir Shah, our esteemed candidate, for leading this project. It’s good that Tahir is our side. We wish our friendship to be as sincere and long term as Turkish-Pakistani friendship.
