November 20th is an important date as it is the date in 1959 when the UN General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child. It is also the date in 1989 when the UN General assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Since 1990, Universal Children’s Day also marks the anniversary of the date that the UN General Assembly adopted both the declaration and the convention on children’s rights. Within this scope, we joined Rotaract Club of Islamabad’s project (RID 3282) “Children for the Better World”. 36 countries and 95 clubs participated in this project.
On November 20, we as Gaziantep İpekyolu Rotaract Club, visited Nilgün İsmet Akınalan Primary School and psychologist Nida Sağlamcı gave a session to students regarding child rights. After the project, to support Unicef’s campaign #GoBlue students did handprints with blue color and we all went blue!
