Almost half of the thousand glowing pumpkins had sprouted all over the park of Chaim Frenkel’s villa in Šiauliai, Lithuania.
Šiauliai were well prepared for the celebration of halloween this year – around 400 carved pumpkins had lightened up the park of Chaim Frenkel‘s villa. It was all done by the kids from day centers, members of the occupation groups and volunteers.
The idea of the event had developed from the last year‘s event, during the project „Atrask“ („Discover“). Šiauliai „Rotary“ and Šiauliu „Auksinio Rato Rotaract“ clubs had involved the activity as a form of entertainment for the children who had less opportunities to develop their self-expression and creativity. Comparing to the last year, not only the amount of carved pumpkins had doubled, but also the amount of participants and volunteers.
The event was accompanied by the concert, the park was filled with the habitants of Šiauliai town – families or companies of friends, admiring and taking pictures of the impressive sight. The most beautiful pumpkin painters were rewarded.
Last year, we supported day care centers children to go to museums and theaters.
This year we plan to provide support for children in order to teach them to swim and visit companies and factories.
